Play Nerdle Online Free - Number Equation Wordle Game
What Is Nerdle?
Nerdle is the math lover answer to Wordle. Instead of guessing a word, you guess a hidden 8-character equation like 12+35=47. You have 6 attempts, and after every guess each tile changes color to guide you:
Green — the character is in the equation and in the correct spot.
Yellow — the character is in the equation but in a different spot.
Gray — the character is not in the equation at all.
Unlike the daily version, here you can play unlimited puzzles whenever you like — hit New Game and a fresh equation is generated instantly.
How to Play
Type an equation using the on-screen keyboard or your physical keyboard. Use digits 0-9, one operator (+ − × ÷), and one = sign.
Your guess must fill all 8 tiles and be a mathematically correct equation (for example 12+35=47 is valid; 12+35=48 is rejected).
Press Enter to submit and read the color clues.
Use the colors to deduce the hidden equation within 6 guesses.
Rules for a Valid Guess
Exactly 8 characters.
Form: number operator number = number (one operator only).
No leading zeros (07 is not allowed).
Division must come out exact (10÷3 is not allowed).
The equation must be true — the left side must equal the right side.
Strategies to Win in Fewer Guesses
1. Cover Many Characters Early
A great opening guess uses 8 different characters, such as 12+36=48. In one shot you learn which digits and which operator are in the answer.
2. Lock the Equals Sign Position
The position of = tells you a lot: it splits the equation into the expression and the result. If = is green in spot 6, the answer is a single digit on the right — that narrows things enormously.
3. Use Yellows as Positions to Avoid
A yellow character must move to a spot where you have not yet seen it fail. Combine this with the operator position to reconstruct the equation structure.
4. Do the Math Backwards
Once you know the result digit and the operator, list all equations that fit. For a result of 8 with ÷, possibilities are limited — check which ones match your green and yellow tiles.
Why Nerdle Is Great Brain Training
Nerdle combines arithmetic fluency with logical deduction. Every guess exercises mental math, and every color clue exercises constraint-based reasoning. It is a daily warm-up used by teachers and puzzle fans worldwide.
FAQs
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Even better — puzzles are unlimited. Generate as many as you like with the New Game button.
Can the equation have two operators?
In this version every equation has exactly one operator, which keeps puzzles fast and fair while still challenging.
What does yellow mean if the same digit appears twice?
Colors follow standard Wordle rules with duplicates: greens are counted first, and yellows only appear if the answer contains more of that character.
What is a good score?
Solving in 3 guesses is excellent; 4 is a solid result. If you regularly need 6, focus on opening guesses that cover more distinct characters.
